Application Notes
The following application notes are provided as guidance to users in their applications:
Test Procedure for measuring Capacitance and Resistance (DC-ESR)
Details on how to measure and calculate the cap and ESR of these hybrid supercapacitors from a discharge curve.
Application note #1801
Notes and Precautions for handling PowerRESPONDER product
information pertaining optimal handling precautions, soldering conditions, to get the best performance from your PowerRESPONDER purchase.
Application Note #1802
Shipping requirements
This application note describes why the PowerRESPONDER cells do not need hazardous shipment labeling and are free from air transport restrictions that lithium batteries face.
Application Note #1803
State of Health Parameter Measurement
In multiple applications of the PowerRESPONDER cell, knowing the State of Health of the cell is important. It is particularly critical in applications where the cell is held under full charge waiting for an event to respond with back up power. This note and an associated patent describes how to make this measurement accurately for the hybrid supercapacitor.
Application Note #1804
Two Cell Balancing (Series and Parallel)
When applying these cells for greater power or higher voltage, there are several chipsets available out there for managing the charge and discharge of multiple connected cells and maintaining their voltage balance. The BQ29200 is one of those chips. Application notes here will inform those using other chips also.
Application Note #1805
Precaution While Bending The Tabs
(with example figures for PR200/340/800/1100 )
When bending the tabs for soldering/attachment to specific printed circuit board geometries, it is critical to not stress the cell body especially the portion where the tabs insert into the cell. Incorrect mechanical manipulation of this area will compromise the cell performance and void the warranty on the cell. This note shows specific areas that must not be placed under stress and provides guidelines on how to make jigs to reproducibly and safely bend cell tabs.
